Monta Vista High Alumni
Monta Vista definitely cultivates a hard-working and talented student body, but not due to the quality of teachers or resources provided by the school. The students inflict almost-toxic peer pressure to work hard, driving many students to continue excelling in their studies, and the mediocre to feel inferior and unreceptive to improvement. The difficult courses coupled with unreasonable/unqualified teachers do not encourage learning and good study habits. I do not recommend this school- it is not a healthy environment for teens to find themselves and develop as unique individuals apart from their numerical qualifications.
MVHS is exactly the opposite of the kind of school I would want my child to go to. This school lacks everything that makes high school a high school, and not simply just college. The students are so hardworking, but the entire atmosphere of this campus is dreary and sad. The students are hard on themselves, which makes sense being in the heart of the Silicon Valley.
Parents involved in PTA are gossipy, rude and stuck in high school. The sports programs are almost all sub-par. This school lacks spirit and drive. On the other hand, it is academically great, but not at all because of the programs or teachers (send your kids to a private if that's what you want). Diversity is non-existent, with there being almost no Black, Hispanic, or N. American children. Monta Vista High School is a well-known school in the Bay Area for breaking its students.
Monta Vista High School Ranking
These kids are hard working and put a very high emphasis on their grades. The teachers at Monta Vista tend to push the students to their limits. A handful of teachers at the school think a C is a good grade. This is problematic for an entire student population that thinks 'A' is the average grade. Attending Monta Vista has made me realize that the quality of education offered at this school cannot be compared to the other schools in California. This school will break their students.
Many of the school alumni have come back to the school to recall their difficulty at Monta Vista but have no regrets due to their applicable critical thinking skills and perseverance in the real world. I do not regret attending this school. My experiences this school has brought me cannot be replaced by another. I can only hope that the skills I have learned from attending this school with be helpful in my future.
