Dark Souls Steamworks Patch
Yes, that's all as it should be. You can not play Dark Souls GFWL online at this point, you can only play it offline. The achievements you earn will still count, but they will only be synced to your profile once you boot up a different GFWL game, so that the GFWL service 'sees' your offline Dark Souls achievements. That's what Halo 2 is for in your case.correction. You can NOT Play Physical Copies Online anymore.
Dark Souls Steamworks Patch 2
I'm still able to play my Steam copy while connected to GFWL. Of course in order to be able to play the Game online you must have had the Game installed before the Steamworks Update. But IT is still possible to play Online and earn Achievements ONLINE in Dark Souls (PC) it's just very rare to find somebody to play with.

Well, what is it? It’s Dark Souls on Steamworks. As suggested by Bandai Namco’s community manager last week, today marks the moment when Dark Souls can be migrated away from Games for Windows Live. This does come at a slight cost, however, as it appears the frame-rate unlocking portion of Durante’s DSFix no longer works. If you’re using DSFix to unlock the frame-rate to 60, you’ll need to dig that.ini file out of your Dark Souls folder and turn that function off. I’m sure somebody will figure out how to get it working again before too long, but for now the Steamworks version will be restricted to 30fps.Update: That didn’t take long. DSFix has been updated for the Steam version.Over at the Steam forums for the game, there’s an on how to convert to the Steamworks version.
